Betty Jo Morgan

May 29, 1947 – February 15, 2026

Age 78

Betty Jo Morgan passed away peacefully at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on February 15, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on May 29, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, Betty's life was a testament to her friendly spirit and generous heart.

Betty spent her formative years in Nashville, over the years she developed a lifelong love for horseback riding, gardening, and fishing—interests that would bring joy and tranquility to her and those around her. Her high school graduation marked the beginning of a diverse career path, with Betty taking on various roles that showcased her adaptability and work ethic. In recent years, she retired from her cherished position in the school kitchen, where she nourished the bodies and souls of countless children.

Family was Betty's world. She shared a beautiful and enduring love with her husband, Robert Morgan of Granville, Tennessee. Betty was a devoted mother to her sons: John (Cindy) Morgan of Granville, TN, and Josh (Jessica) Morgan of Baxter, TN, as well as her daughter: Cindy Tayes of Dowelltown, TN. Her sister, Nancy Kimbell of Nashville, TN, shared in the joys and sorrows of life with her. Betty's legacy is lovingly carried on by her grandchildren, Ercika (Dustin) Gilley, John Morgan Jr., Holly Tayes, and Cody Thomas, as well as her great-grandchild, Cain Gilley. Each of them was touched by Betty's warmth and generosity, which she extended without reservation.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Martin and Bonnie Martin, her sister Naomi Martin, and her son-in-law Shannon Tayes, the memories and lessons they imparted remain a guiding light for her and her family.

The world is a little less bright without Betty Jo Morgan, but her spirit will continue to resonate in the lives of those she loved and the community she served. Her story is one of love, dedication, and the quiet strength that lies in a life well-lived. Betty's memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

No memorial services are planned at this time.
