Carl Thomas Wheeler passed away on the 26th of December, 2025, at the age of 79, in his home in Hilham, Tennessee. Born on October 12, 1946, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, Carl's life was one marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his community.
Carl leaves behind his loving spouse, Georgia Wheeler of Hilham, TN, Their love story was one for the ages, they married on January 19, 1968, sharing 57 years filled with mutual respect unwavering love and support. Carl's legacy continues through his son, Kelly Wheeler and wife Jennifer of Cookeville, TN, who will remember him for his guidance and unwavering love. He was a proud Papa to his grandson, Dylan Wheeler of Cookeville, TN, and step-granddaughter, Alyssa Myers, also of Cookeville, TN. His sister, Anna "Hester" Harrison of Cookeville, TN, survives along with other friends and family.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bobby and Edward Wheeler.
Carl was the proud owner and florist of Katelyn's Florist in Gainesboro, TN, where he cultivated not only flowers but also relationships within his community. His floral creations brought joy to countless celebrations and comfort during times of sorrow. Carl's artistry and kindness left a lasting impression on all who walked through the doors of his shop.
A devout Christian, Carl was an active member of the Post Oak Freewill Baptist Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and it was reflected in his involvement with three gospel groups: The Spirit Song, Concords, and Crossroad Trio. His rich voice was a testament to his love for gospel music, and it will echo in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of hearing him sing.
Those who knew Carl will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and he was always the first to lend a helping hand. Carl's propensity for love was mirrored in every aspect of his life, from his floral arrangements to his melodic contributions to his church and gospel groups.
As we say goodbye to Carl Thomas Wheeler, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His influence on our lives was as beautiful and varied as the flowers he so tenderly cared for. Carl's memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 4 pm until 8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 10 am until time of services at 2 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Pastor Dow Allen and Pastor Clayton Lee, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in to Dylan Wheeler's Education Fund by contacting the business office of the funeral home.
