Cheryl Lynn Simmons

Cheryl Lynn "Cheri" Simmons was born on June 27, 1957, in Yakima, WA to parents James Bethel Walker and Patricia Ruth Barnes Walker and passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Ascension St. Thomas Mid Town in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 68.

Cheri had many interests; she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for crafts, which allowed her to express her creativity and bring beauty into the world. Crossword puzzles, coloring books, and playing dice were among her favorite pastimes. Yet, it was well-known that Cheri could most often be found playing on her phone. Cheri's professional life was spent at Sammy's One Stop, where she was not only a dedicated employee but also a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents: Agnes Dora Polk Barnes Flores and Arlis Lanyoul Barnes; parents: James Bethel Walker and Patricia Ruth Barnes Walker; brother: James Richard Walker, sister-in-law: Lynn Marie Franklin Walker, and her beloved fur baby Taz.

She is survived by her daughters, April (Ricky) Saul of Carriere, Mississippi, and Angie (Roy Alvarez) Aulston of Baxter, Tennessee. Her brothers, Randall Lee (Carrie) Walker of Sunnyside, Washington; Donald Ray (Janet) Walker of Island City, Oregon; Danny K (Virginia) Walker of Walla Walla, Washington, and Rodney C. (Juanita Bilbrey) Walker of Bloomington Springs, Tennessee; grandchildren: Kevin Mason and Kenneth Mason of Carriere, Mississippi, and her former husband Wesley Charles Simmons of Kingman, Arizona, along with multiple nieces and nephews, and other family and friends also survives.

Ms. Cheri’s family has chosen cremation with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
