Dwight "Doug" Douglas Tramel

November 9, 1951 – April 23, 2026

Age 74

Dwight Douglas Tramel, known to family and friends as Doug, was born on November 9, 1951, in Smithville, Tennessee, and he passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2026, at his home in Gainesboro, Tennessee at the age of 74.

Doug was the son of the late W.C. Tramel and Bonnie Pearl Keith Childress. For many years, Doug worked in heating and cooling, where he developed a reputation for being dependable and capable. He also worked in ductwork and insulation, putting his skills to use in ways that helped many homes and businesses function more comfortably and efficiently. At one point, he even had his own business, a testament to his determination and willingness to take on responsibility. Through every stage of his work, he approached his duties with a practical mind and a strong work ethic that earned the respect of those who knew him professionally.

Outside of work, Doug found enjoyment in the outdoors and in the traditions he loved. He liked to fish and bow fish; he especially enjoyed shooting gar and big carp. These interests were more than pastimes to him. They were part of the rhythm of his life and reflected his appreciation for time spent outdoors, patience, skill, and the satisfaction of a good day on the water or on the bank. Those who shared these interests with him will remember the enjoyment he found in them and the stories that often came with those experiences.

He is survived by his brother, Roger Tramel and Pam Rodgers of Gainesboro, Tennessee, and by his niece, Hillary Tramel of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He valued the bonds of family and carried those relationships with him throughout his life. His presence will be deeply missed by those who loved him and by those who knew him as a steady and familiar part of their lives.

He leaves behind memories of a hardworking man who lived simply and sincerely. Doug’s life was one of quiet dedication, and he will be remembered for the many ways he contributed through his work, his interests, and his enduring connection to family. Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of his life remains in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In honor of Doug's wishes the family has chosen cremation.
