Age 75
Encil Leon Pryor, known affectionately to many as Cotton, born on January 24, 1951, in Gainesboro, Tennessee to parents Joe Arvle Pryor and Delsie Ovaline Pryor, he passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, at the age of 75.
Cotton carried the values of hard work, humility, and quiet strength throughout his life. He was a man who appreciated simple pleasures, steady routines, and the satisfaction that came from a job well done. Those who knew Cotton will remember him as dependable, kind, and sincere, with a warm presence that made others feel welcome in his company.
Cotton worked as a core driller, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and determination. He took pride in his labor and understood the importance of perseverance and responsibility. Through years of work, he built a reputation for being steady and capable, and he approached each day with commitment and care. His life was marked by practical skills, resilience, and a willingness to do what needed to be done.Outside of work, Cotton found enjoyment in building miniature log cabins. This hobby reflected both his patience and his creativity. He took pleasure in creating something with his hands, and the care he put into each cabin spoke to the thoughtful nature that defined him. His interest in this craft brought him peace and satisfaction, and it remains a meaningful reflection of the man he was.
Family was an important part of Cotton’s life, and he will be lovingly remembered by those who survive him. He is survived by his son: Mike Pryor of Dandridge, Tennessee; his step-daughters, Heather Johnson of Tennessee and Tina Johnson of Tennessee; and Amy Pryor and her husband, Erik Baxter, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his niece, Samantha Pryor, and nephew, Devon Pryor. Each of them carries forward cherished memories of his life, his presence, and the quiet strength he shared with those around him.
Cotton is preceded in death by his daughter, Sharron Lynn Pryor; brother, Gene Pryor and Ray Pryor; sister, Myrtie Gentry.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 11:00 am till 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 31, 2026 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Devon Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Cemetery.
