Irma Louise Dyer was born on Dec 19,1934, in the Union Hill community of Jackson Co. TN. She passed away peacefully, after a full happy life, at the age of 91 in Cookeville TN.


Louise was educated at Union Hill School, before the family moved to Detroit MI. They returned to the Bloomington Springs community a few years later for her high school years. Louise graduated from Baxter Seminary in 1952.


In 1955 Louise traveled by ship to Bremerhaven, Germany to marry the love of her life, Billy W. Flatt, USAF. They married April 5, 1955. Bill and Louise had a wonderful marriage of 67 years. They were blessed with 3 sons they loved dearly. Louise grew up in a loving Christian family and was baptized in 1954 at Vinewood Church of Christ, Detroit. Over the years they worshiped with many churches as part of Bill’s ministry career including Brownsville TN C of C, Spencer C of C, Wooddale C of C, White Station C of C, Ross Rd C of C, and Jefferson Ave C of C. Louise often said, “I love my family. Church and family have been the center of my life. My work has centered more on the home and family. I was glad I was able to do that.”


Louise was survived by her sons, Stephen Flatt (Linda), Daniel Flatt (Lea Ann), her grandchildren David Flatt (Lauren), Kevin Flatt, Jonathan Flatt, Kathryn Elizabeth Flatt, and Benton Flatt, and her great grandchildren Allie Flatt, Crawford Flatt, and Emma Flatt. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Pam Flatt, sister-in-laws Mary Dyer, Linda Anderson (Jimmy), Wanda Crabtree (Joey), Della Flatt. 


Louise was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Bill, her precious son Timothy, her parents Paskell and Flora Dyer, her maternal grandparents Jasper and Sarah Pippin, her paternal grandparents Logan Durell and Maggie Nola Dyer. She was also proceeded by her brothers Harold Dyer and his wife Margie, and her twin brother Ernest Dyer.


In 2008, after a long career in Memphis, Bill and Louise returned Cookeville to enjoy their retirement with family and friends.


Visitation will be on Tuesday April 28, 2026 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2026 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Flatt Cemetery.
