Louise Mundy

June 5, 1930 – September 26, 2025

Age 95

Mrs. Louise Brown Mundy, of the Richmond Chapel community of Jackson County, passed away September 26, 2025 at NHC Cookeville.

She was born on June 5, 1930, to William Logan and Sarah Jane Jones Brown. On July 23, 1952 she married Ridley Clay Mundy, with whom she shared 55 years until his death on September 27, 2007.

Mrs. Mundy was a member of the Richmond Chapel Church of Christ, where she taught children’s Sunday School for many years. She loved cooking for family and friends and prepared and shared countless meals with others. A few of her specialties were biscuits, fried chicken, and fried apple pies, which were favorites of her family. Mrs. Mundy retired from the Jackson County Farm Bureau in 1990, following twenty years as the insurance secretary, a job she loved, working with people who were like

family.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mundy is predeceased by a son, Larry Ridley Mundy, sisters Frances (William) Pharris, Kerry (Dois) Fields, Molly (Ralph) Lineberry, Marcia (Don) Barnett, Carol (Larry) Atwood, and Jewel Brown, brothers Eldon Brown and Homer T. Brown, and father- and mother-in-law, Charlie and Mae Mundy.

Mrs. Mundy, or Mama Gease, as so many of her family and friends know her, is survived by her daughters and their husbands Gail and Danny Huffines and Judy and Bobby Hull, grandchildren Patrick (Mary) Huffines, Kristi (Greg) Crawford, Emily (Ben) Thompson, and Lindsey (Keith) Snyder, as well as great-grandchildren Colton Dalton, Jacob Dalton, Ridge Thompson, Rory Thompson, Dawson Snyder, and Chloe Stafford, along with many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank NHC Cookeville and Caris Hospice for the excellent care provided. Many of their care team and staff members have become like family. We would like to especially thank Sydney and Melanie, who loved and cared for Mama Gease so well.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Sunday, September 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, September 29, from 11:00 a.m. until time of the services. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Rob Draper Cemetery.  Bro. Matthew Scoggins will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
