Manuel D Young was born on June 8, 1954, in Jackson County, TN and he passed away at his residence on Cummins Mill Rd on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
He was the son of Fred Willard Young, Sr. and Ruby Dimple Williams Young. He married his wife, Becky Chilton Young, on September 5, 1980.
He enlisted with the military at the age of 19, and spent the following 4 years working as a machinist’s mate on USS Stribling DD-867, a gearing-class destroyer ship, for the United States Navy. After his years in the Navy, he spent his time farming and learning different trades jobs. He retired from Lakeland Electric in Cookeville, TN after many years of working as a dedicated electrician.
He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Fred Willard Young Sr and Ruby Dimple Williams Young; his wife: Becky Young; his sister: Diane Young Phillips, and Rick Hollenback, his close friend from the Navy.
Survivors include his children: Dewayne Toler and Jeremy (Gina) Toler; grandchildren: Brooke (Justin) Morgan, Keisha (Nolan) Spivey, Johnny Toler, JT Toler, and Jaydan Toler; great-grandchildren: Braxton (9) and Brantley (8) Matthews, Willow (4) and Lucy (2) Spivey, and an additional great granddaughter: Georgia Morgan; sisters: Pearlie Jordan, Polly Copeland, Lennie Welch, Kathy Keith, Judy Young Phillips, and brother: Fred Young, Jr.
The family invites all friends and loved ones to join them for the graveside memorial service at noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his farm on Cummins Mill Rd. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate the service.
