Age 58

Melissa Laurinda Miller passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at her residence in Cookeville, Tennessee, at the age of 58.

She was born on November 18, 1967, in Columbus, Ohio, and throughout her life she carried with her a quiet strength, a warm heart, and a deep devotion to the people she loved. Melissa lived a life centered on family, faith, and the simple joys that meant the most to her. She was a homemaker who lovingly devoted herself to raising her children, and she found great purpose in caring for her home and being present for those closest to her.

Melissa loved her children dearly and took great pride in the family she helped build. Her love extended naturally to her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness and were a treasured part of her life. She found joy in the everyday moments shared with family, and her kindness, patience, and steady presence will be remembered by all who knew her. She also loved being outside, where she could enjoy the peace and beauty of God’s creation. Above all, Melissa loved Jesus and held her faith close to her heart throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Clay Miller and Carolyn Yvonne Stevens, as well as her brothers, Vincent Miller and Charlie Thomas Miller. Their memories remained an important part of her life, and she carried her family history with love and respect.

Melissa is survived by her son, Jeremiah Howard and his wife, Megan, of Cookeville, Tennessee; her daughters, Skyla Ledbetter of Monterey, Tennessee, Heidi Ledbetter of Cookeville, Tennessee, Katie Martin and her husband, Corey Nagucki, of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Shara Howard of Monterey, Tennessee; her brother, Steven Miller of Monterey, Tennessee; and her fiancé, Todd Hyzer of Cookeville, Tennessee. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Malaki Howard, Mallory Griffith, Madelyn Griffith, Molly Jean Griffith, Charlie Ledbetter, Mikiah Howard, Carter Edward Nagucki, Cadien Nagucki, Ayslynn Grace Ledbetter, and Emrie Hardy, all of Tennessee.

Those who knew Melissa will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and companion whose life was marked by devotion and care. She had a gentle spirit and a heart that was always open to the people she loved. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave herself fully to nurturing, supporting, and encouraging them in every season of life.

Melissa’s legacy will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren, in the memories shared by her family, and in the love she gave so freely. Though her passing leaves a deep sorrow, her life stands as a testament to faith, family, and unconditional love. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered with affection and gratitude by all whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of life will be held at Monterey Community Church on Saturday, April 25. 2026 at 4 PM. The family invites you to join them in remembering and honoring Melissa and celebrating a life well-lived.
