Age 70

Rodney Silvey was born on December 21, 1955 in St Louis MO and he passed away at his residence surrounded by his wife, 2 daughters and his sister in Cookeville on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the age of 70.


Rodney was a loyal husband, he married Sandra Jane Duncan on January 29, 1977. He was a retired engineer with Federal Mogul in Smithville. Rodney was a lifelong avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting quail and any small game. He loved Morel mushroom hunting and spending time in the woods. Rodney spent many years raising and training Brittany Spaniel bird dogs. He was a long time volunteer for Jake’s Day with the NWTF Upper Cumberland Chapter . Rodney was a founding member of Quail Unlimited in Bowling Green, Kentucky, as well as the chapter president for many years. Growing up he spent many years in the Boy Scouts, ran track and played football for Russellville High School. He spent many weekends at the lake where he loved to teach friends and family to water ski, including his daughters.


He was an amazing father to both of his daughters. He taught them many things in life like how to play ball, change a flat tire, shoot a gun, and to hunt and fish. He even taught his girls and all of his grandchildren how to swim at a very early age.


He was preceded in death by his parents Dannie Pearl Silvey and Vera Theo Lindsey Silvey; Brothers: Gary, Tommy, Carl and Randy Silvey.


Survived by his spouse of 48 years, Sandra Silvey; daughters Lindsey (Travis Fox) Silvey of Gainesboro TN, Amanda (Anthony) Buck of Whitleyville TN; sister Denise Cauley of Russellville KY; grandchildren Dawson (Courtney) Poston of Fort Walton FL, Abigail (Gage Clark) Poston of Gainesboro TN, Brady Buck of Whitleyville TN, Piper Buck of Whitleyville TN, Sadie Buck of Whitleyville TN; great grandchildren Holden Poston of Fort Walton FL, Hadelyn Poston of Fort Walton FL, Hudson Poston of Fort Walton FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 from, 4-8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 at 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Russellville, KY located at 159 W 6th St, Russellville, KY 42276
